Los Angeles (dpa) - British actor Rhys Ifans is to play the main villain in the forthcoming Spider-Man movie, Sony Pictures announced Monday.
Director Marc Webb chose Ifans for the villainous role despite the actor being known for his goofy acting persona, best exemplified in his role opposite Hugh Grant in the film Notting Hill.
Ifans joins Andrew Garfield, who will star in the title role, and Emma Stone, who portrays the main female character in the film, which is a prequel to the previous movies and shows Spider-Man and his alter ego Peter Parker in his formative years. Read more »
