KK’s outbursts could cost Namibia dearly
In the latest tirade from ‘The Great Kazenambo Show’, Insight’s Tileni Mongudhi was at the receiving end of an unwarranted verbal attack, conforming to the age old adage that a leopard never changes its spots.
In the interest of national reconciliation, Government should seriously consider sending the Minister on an anger management course. Surely Government has money for that, as prevention is better than cure. In the long run, the Kazenambo outbursts and the President’s apparent reluctance to call him to order could cost the country dearly. The international community might start referring to Namibia as a “Buffoon” Republic, to borrow from the honourable Minister’s vocabulary.
If it is not the ‘bloody boers’, it is the stupid Owambos’. When will it ever end, and who is next? But then again, why should that be a concern? According to the Prime Minister Nahas Angula, his colleague is merely expressing his “freedom of speech.”
The minister has shown great sensitivity towards discussions on the repatriation of Ovaherero remains, and the topic always seems to trigger a wave of outrage.
Understandably so, but the honourable minister is also a national leader and should equally be open to the media’s queries, without taking the issue as a personal attack on him. In all fairness, journalist merely want to correctly and accurately inform the nation, hence the queries.
What makes matters worse is that the honourable Minister tries to justify his behaviour by dragging in the succession issue at any occasion. Kazenambo is a staunch supporter of a Swapo Vice President, Dr Hage Geingob presidency, and many could have guessed whom the minister had in mind when he suggested that a non-Oshiwambo speaking Namibian should be the country’s next President.
Now the minister all of a sudden claims that by propagating this, he became the victim of tribal attacks. However, during his latest tirade he used the words ‘stupid Owambo Ministers.’ Does that not sound as a tribal attack? Who is attacking who, honourable minister? It could perhaps be a gray area, but the minister’ statements sadly borders on contradicting each other, leaving the nation even more confused.
Why does President Pohamba, a known advocate of peace, stability and national reconciliation, allows Kazenambo to continue with his tirades? Such behaviour from a Minister should not be allowed to continue, unless the mighty Swapo party intends running this country as a ‘Baffoon’ Republic.
