Criminal charges against EXIT withdrawn
Assault charges that in November lead to the incarceration of Exit, whose real name is David Shikalepo, were withdrawn by the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court last week upon request of the complainant.
EXIT, who was out on bail, appeared before Magistrate Helvi Shilamba, who told him he was a free man after the charges against him were dropped by Chantel Kaumbi, who he had beaten up in an alleged case of mistaken identity.
EXIT, of the famous EXIT & Mushe Kwaito duo, was booked into the Windhoek Police station for a short stint after he beat up a complete stranger and left her injured and bruised in a local city nightclub, thinking she was a tabloid reporter.
EXIT attacked her out of the blue - pulling her hair, kicking her and beating her with his fist. He also allegedly threatened her and her friends, telling them that he had a gun in his car and that he would shoot them.
According to reports, when EXIT later realised his mistake and the seriousness of the assault, he started to apologise.
Earlier Kaumbi told Namibian Sun that EXIT’s lawyer and music stable manager tried to bribe her to drop the charges in exchange for a sum of money and a replacement cellphone for the one she lost in the commotion.
EXIT claimed he thought she was the person who earlier reported on his friend Mushe and threatened him earlier that night that “he should watch his step otherwise she will write about him, just like she wrote about his friend Mushe”.
